Examiner-informed English and History teaching that builds knowledge, confidence and results
I am a UK-qualified teacher, examiner and educational consultant with over 30 years’ teaching experience and a background in senior leadership and school improvement. My examining and assessment-setting experience gives me detailed insight into what successful work requires and how to help students demonstrate what they know.
I have a strong track record of helping students make substantial progress, including from low starting points. I design and deliver precisely tailored programmes, from focused intervention and specialist EAL/New to English provision to complete GCSE and IGCSE courses in English and History, and A-level courses in English Literature, History and Classical Civilisation.
My approach is calm, inclusive, strategic and confidence-building. I identify what is limiting progress, sequence learning carefully and make complex content, analytical writing and assessment expectations clear and manageable. I work particularly well with students who are struggling, underperforming, anxious, need additional processing time or require a different approach, including autistic and other neurodivergent learners, external candidates and those needing structured provision alongside or outside school.
I help students develop secure knowledge, recognise their progress and become increasingly confident and independent.
Alongside my work with students, I provide educational consultancy, CPD and teacher training in teaching, curriculum, assessment, EAL and inclusion.
